1. 1999 -- Chair Emeritus conceived and promoted the initiative to organize a major U.S.- Asian Technology Exposition. Support from major financial sponsors was attained in the first and second quarters from Dell Computer, Inc., Austin Chamber and Visitors Bureau as well as the City of Austin.

2. 1999 -- Directors John Hur, Lucia Hur, Mitchel Wong and Rose Wong represented Texas in trade promotions between Texas and China in the areas of sanitation, healthcare and agriculture throughout five provinces in China.

3. 2000 -- TACC began receiving additional financial support from different organizations in the U.S., and embarked on a campaign for support and participation by sending three representatives on various visits to Taiwan, Hong Kong, China, Korea and Thailand. TACC secured the title sponsorship from the Municipality of Tianjin totaling $100,000. In the process, TACC garnered the attention of hundreds of organizations abroad as prospective international partners in trade and commerce in Texas.

4. 2000 -- TACC's Directors John Hur, Lucia Hur and David Chan, representing TACC, accompanied then Mayor Kirk Watson to promote Austin business and attract more Korean companies to Austin to facilitate international trade and commerce.

5. 2000 -- Directors John Hur, Lucia Hur and Paul Kim sponsored thirty-one entertainers from Korea for cultural exchange programs for the Austin metropolitan and surrounding areas, targeting elementary schools.

6. 2001-- The TACC tech expo, using the acronym of "Asiatech", was realized May, 2001, with a three day exhibit, seminars and dinner events at the Austin Convention Center. Tianjin sent a delegation of eighty representatives while other companies China attended and maintained booth's of their own. The theme was "high technology" and the goal was to provide networking between foreign companies and Texas companies.

7. 2002 -- TACC co-sponsored Asiatech II, held in Tianjin, China, in September, 2002, in conjunction with China's "Informatization Forum" which was attended by 60,000 visitors. TACC was heavily involved in organizing various events including the solicitation and participation of U.S. companies to attend. Both Dell Computer Corporation's Vice President Mohan Kharbanda and Senior Global Economist Joe Quinlan, then from Morgan Stanley New York main offices, served as speakers at Asiatech II.

8. 2002 -- TACC's Vice Chairman and Directors John Hur and Lucia Hur accompanied then Mayor Will Wynn of Austin to Seoul, Korea, to promote Austin businesses with Korea.

9. 2001-2002 -- TACC's Vice Chairman and Directors John Hur and Lucia Hur (current Chair) initiated the project to create a sister city relation with Kwangmyong, Korea, and successfully established that relationship.

10. 2002 -- David Chan embarked on developing closer ties with Tianjin by having it declared by the City of Austin as a "Friendship" city in 2002, resulting in interest by Tianjin to cultivate economic relations with Austin.

11. 2002 -- Directors John Hur, Lucia Hur and Paul Kim sponsored twenty-two performers/entertainers from Korea for a cultural exchange for cities across Texas targeting high schools.

12. 2002 -- Directors Paul Kim, Teddy Kim and Lucia Hur conducted an exchange resulting in an agreement between the Austin Music Network and "Music Valley", the foremost talent management group from Korea.

13. 2002-2004 -- TACC's John Hur was actively involved in the creation of the International Center of Austin and currently serves on its board.

14. 2003 -- Member Teddy Kim and Director Paul Kim establish the Texas U-Hawk Academy in Austin to bring foreign students for the ESL program and business classes.

15. Jul 2003 -- Directors John Hur, Lucia Hur and Paul Kim sponsored fifty-six entertainers, performers and business owners from Korea for a cultural and information exchange program.

16. 2004 -- Director Paul Kim promoted international teen leadership program for twenty-two international students for the International Youth Conference.

17. Jan 2004 -- Director Lucia Hur, Member Francisco Choi and Dr. Maryann Choi brought Korean Broadcasting System (KBS) to film a series on geriatric healthcare system in the United States. Results included three months of Korean television broadcasting promoting American healthcare throughout Texas and other American based healthcare companies.

18. Jan 29, 2004 -- Director's Paul Kim and Teddy Kim coordinate "Song of Korea," a special exhibition of museum pieces from the Korean National Museum illustrating Korean culture and history placed in exhibit at the Austin Children's Museum. The goal of the exhibit was to increase the awareness of Asian cultural education for young children in Texas and the U.S.

19. Sep 2004 -- Vice Chairman Mohan Kharbanda, (who is also Vice President of Apple Computers) shared winning strategies and candid advice on managing US-India businesses in his speech to four-hundred-fifty people gathered in Austin from throughout the world to discuss how India and the United States can leverage each nation's business communities' strengths. Other speakers included proven industry leaders from different sectors including global sourcing, cross cultural film partnerships, venture capitalists and entrepreneurial developers.

20. Oct 2004 -- Member Francisco Choi and Dr. Maryann Choi (First Texas geriatric expert), accepted keynote speaker invitations to the International Geriatrics Conference in Seoul, Korea. The goal was to promote U.S. geriatric healthcare perspectives.

21. 2004 -- TACC's David Chan helped Tsinghua University, the premier university in China, launch its Executive Education Center, including the production of a twenty-hour television broadcast series to promote continuing education for professional managers. Mr. Chan arranged for Michael Dell to appear in one of the broadcasts, as well as appearing himself to introduce the concept of the Center.

22. 2004 -- TACC's Director La Vonne Nguyen and her husband Truong Nguyen, owners of Hong Kong Supermarket, accompany Secretary of State Geoff Connor to Vietnam to promote international trade between Texas and Vietnam.

23. 2004 -- David Chan continues to develop closer ties between Tianjin and the State of Texas, and between the Pacific Telecommunications Council and State of Texas, culminating in the Secretary of State Geoff Connor going to China in September, 2004 to serve as a speaker at the PTC conference. During the same period, the State of Texas entered into and signed a friendship agreement with Tianjin.

24. Ongoing -- TACC continues to co-sponsor many foreign visiting delegations or visitors who were not initially invited or initially arranged by TACC. TACC continues its initiatives to invite speakers from abroad to speak at TACC functions, including the Hong Kong's equivalent ambassador to North America.

25. 2001-2004 -- Director Paul Kim helped five small to medium sized foreign semiconductor manufacturers and supply companies set-up offices and factories in Austin.

26. 2001-2004 -- Director Paul Kim directed inbound business from twenty-three foreign companies to contract with Austin based semiconductor companies.

27. Oct 2004 -- TACC conceived a business plan for ACVB to develop a program to promote visitors to Austin, which ACVB passed on to other chambers for adoption.

28. May 2006 - After spending about one year, acting as China Ambassador for the World Conress for Information Technology, David Chan hosted a China Dinner Reception at the WCIT conference, at which many of the Premier VIPs attended. These included CEO of Tokyo Electron, Ltd from Japan main office, CEO of Freescale Seminconductor, CEO of Sematech, the Mayor of Austin, the Deputy Secretary of State of Texas, and many CEOs or key VPs of IT companies in Austin.
